Volkswagen Group China

In 1978, Volkswagen Group and representatives of the Chinese government already agreed that Volkswagen brand models should be assembled locally in China. In 1985, the contract establishing the joint venture SAIC VOLKSWAGEN that produced the Volkswagen Santana in China was signed. In 1988, the Volkswagen Group agreed to cooperate with First Automobile Works (FAW) in Changchun.

The Group has grown together with China’s auto industry, during the 30 years’ partnership with China. The business scope of Volkswagen in China includes the production, sales and services of complete vehicles and parts, such as engines and transmissions.
